I thought I was a person just built for academia.
Because I love learning. I love feeling my mind stretched to think of more than just facts but to think of cause/effect situations to every single action I take.
I now love sitting and reading Thomas Merton, who would have seen that coming?

Certainly not I. I thought I had had enough of the religious thing.
Ah well. Times change and people change and situations change.
And if I remain stagnant I'm not going to survive.

Anyway, back to the "not being cut out for academia".
It's not that I'm doing poorly in class (for the most part).
It's more that I'm not enjoying myself.
And it's probably a small problem that I love my job as much as I do. As I could see myself working there full time for at least a little while versus going to classes everyday.
Ha, but we all know that's not going to happen.

So I find myself living for the breaks (26 days until Thanksgiving break). And then on those breaks I find myself yearning for the long-term summer, or at least a phone call in January saying, "Hey, come work for our national park out on the west coast. Get yourself out of there. You're drowning."
